Why Sqwincher?

  • Sqwincher unique product formulations (Sqwincher, EveryLyteand Sqwincher ZERO) are the result of research and development that goes well beyond quenching thirst to deliver rehydration for the toughest of work conditions
  • Sqwincher contains twice the potassium and half the sodium compared to other sports drinks

PPE Assessments Deliver Real Cost Savings

Proper PPE assessments can lead to significant benefits for companies, including saved time, money and resources. For expansive or global companies, assessments can help standardize PPE across all industries and market segments – and solve worker PPE and safety needs once and for all.

For example, the employees of a multinational mass media corporation were recently noting a lack of dexterity, standardization and proper cut-resistant protection with current PPE products. Ansell’s Guardian assessment team conducted a complete PPE assessment, including preliminary interviews with employees to better understand tasks and hazards, inventory of current products and analysis of workplace findings and performance.

The assessment revealed overall needs for dexterity, abrasion, ergonomic fit and oil grip. Identifying these needs allowed a better PPE solution to be designed and implemented that delivered all needed benefits while reducing SKUs was achieved. MICROFLEX XCEED XC-310 was one of the key disposable products implemented which was able to deliver dexterity and ergonomic benefits in janitorial and hospitality environments.

The assessment also standardized PPE across the company’s business units with total cost performance savings of more than $100k and growing an estimated total cost performance savings of $200k and growing.

Click here for more information about how an Ansell Guardian® assessment can help your company.

Get a FREE Wall Cabinet When You Purchase a ZOLL AED Plus® Package from Saf-T-Gard

Did you know that sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) claims a life every two minutes, or that SCA strikes nearly 326,000 people in the U.S. annually? SCA can strike anyone at any time, and it takes more lives each year than breast cancer, lung cancer or AIDS. However, if the availability of timely and appropriate care such as CPR or the use of an AED is increased, survival rates will improve. To further illustrate this point, the average survival rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year is 7%. If an AED is used by a bystander, the rate increases to 38%.

To help you ensure your facility's 3-5 minute drop-to-shock response time, ZOLL is offering a FREE AED Wall Cabinet ($199 value) when you purchase a ZOLL AED Plus® Package (semi-automatic or fully-automatic) from Saf-T-Gard now through September 30, 2019.

Only ZOLL’s AED Plus is equipped with Real CPR Help® technology, giving the rescuer real-time feedback on the depth and rate of chest compressions during CPR. The sensor in the pads lets the AED see each chest compression and guides the rescuer, with prompts and a real-time bar gauge, to the recommended depth and rate of compressions.

The ZOLL AED Plus is available in semi-automatic and fully-automatic versions, and each package includes a ZOLL AED Plus with an AED cover, an adult electrode pad (CPR-D-padz®), (1) sleeve of lithium 123A batteries, a medical prescription and a soft carrying case.

Additional features and benefits include the following:

  • Real CPR Help provides unique assistance to rescuers with real-time feedback on CPR compression depth and rate
  • Novel electrode design delivers a five-year shelf life and fits 99% of the population’s chest anatomy
  • Pull-tabs expose the conductive gel on each pad only when it is in direct contact with the skin, limiting the chance of gel contamination
  • CPR-D-padz meet applicable ANSI/AAMI/ISO DF-39-1993 requirements and offer clear anatomical placement illustrations as well as a CPR hand positioning landmark and comes complete with a rescue accessory package, including a barrier mask, razor, scissors, disposable gloves and a towelette
  • Display screen presents the elapsed time and number of shocks delivered
  • Back-lit display screen provides simultaneous text with every audio prompt and a circle of lighted graphical icons that show what to do

Offer includes the following ZOLL AED Plus part numbers:

Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP): Why It's Important for Safety Professionals

HAZOP studies are ideal for complex processes in high hazard facilities, such as chemical plants, nuclear facilities, and oil and gas operations. A Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) is a systematic investigation of a present or planned process or operation. It was originally designed to assess chemical plants and the procedure and processes used in them but is now applied more widely.

The goal of a HAZOP study is to identify and evaluate any problems within a plant or work environment that could pose a risk to the employees or equipment. It also looks at processes that might prevent the facility from running as efficiently as it should.

Click here to read the complete article and learn more about what a HAZOP study involves, as well as tips and advice for those who will be involved in conducting one.

1. GOT THE HEAT? - ZetexPlus® treated fiberglass gloves and mittens with wool linings withstand temperatures up to 2000°F

2. GOT THE TOUCH? - Polyurethane-coated nylon gloves such as Versa-Gard® Flex P VGF-5500 provide maximum tactile sensitivity, particularly when handling small parts

5. GOT THE SOUND? - 3M Peltor PTL Earmuffs feature a unique Push-To-Listen button so that workers can hear instructions and conversation without removing their protective earmuffs

Q&A

Question - What is OSHA's policy on skin cancer as a risk to outdoor workers?

Answer - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does address worker exposure to the sun's radiation indirectly under our 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910.132(a) pertaining to personal protective equipment. Employers are to use effective forms of protection such as wide-brim hats and long sleeve clothing. In situations where the only effective means of protection is sun screen, then it too may be used. Saf-T-Gard proudly offers a full line of CoreTex skin care products, including SunX® Sunscreens, BugX® Insect Repellents and IvyX® Poisonous Plant Pre and Post-Contact Treatments. Temporary Workers’ Safety Program

Whose safety program covers temporary workers? Should it be the responsibility of the temporary agency/supply employer to establish the systems for accident investigation, hazard identification, training, safety rule enforcement, etc.? We recognize this can only be effective by communications with the host employer regarding the specific tasks, work environment, etc.

We assume that your reference is to general or comprehensive workplace safety and health programs, as distinct from the specialized programs which are required by some OSHA standards, such as those which cover process safety management or lockout/tagout. Except for the construction industry (see 29 CFR 1926.20 and 1926.21), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) does not have a standard that requires employers to have safety and health programs in their workplaces. On January 26, 1989 OSHA published the Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines in the Federal Register, Vol. 54, No. 16. These guidelines, however, are not mandatory. Therefore, if a non-construction employer does not have a safety and health program, OSHA cannot issue a citation to the employer just because the employer (temporary agency employer or host employer) does not have a program. Under the Guidelines, the host employer would be responsible for the safety and health program at the workplace. However…some responsibilities such as training may be the shared responsibility of the temporary agency employer and the host employer.

Using Occupational Exposure Banding to Assess Chemicals in the Workplace

NIOSH recently released a report on occupational exposure banding to assess chemical hazards in the workplace. U.S. workplaces use or produce a wide variety of chemicals, but many can harm workers who handle, transport, or come into contact with them. Of the more than 85,000 chemicals in commerce, only about 1,000 have been assigned occupational exposure limits (OELs) to help users know how to safely work with them.

Occupational exposure banding is a way to assess chemicals with no OELs. Banding assigns chemicals to bands based on potency and how the chemicals may harm health. Employers, workers, safety and health professionals, and others will use banding to improve workplace safety. Through the NIOSH occupational exposure banding process, users follow a detailed plan to assign a chemical to one of five bands. These range from A (least potent, highest exposure band indicated) to E (most potent, lowest exposure band indicated). Click here to read the complete article for more information.
