Rehydrate and Satisfy Your Thirst for Savings with Reduced Pricing on Sqwincher® Hydration Solutions from Saf-T-Gard
|
|
|
Are you aware that as little as
2-3% dehydration can result in a 20% decrease in energy levels? Workers

Fortunately, dehydration-related
incidents are 100% preventable. Water alone is not enough to replace the electrolytes
that the body needs to combat dehydration.

Sqwincher® provides an optimally-formulated supply of electrolytes that workers need to stay safe and productive.
Saf-T-Gard can help keep your industrial athletes at the top of
their game by offering value-added savings (up

Vendor Product Spotlight: Honeywell Salisbury Arc Flash Faceshields with PrismShield™ |
|
|
|
The technology that gave traditional arc flash face shields
their characteristic green color had an unfortunate side effect: the green tint
distorted the colors a user would see. To avoid this and distinguish the exact
colors, workers frequently lift up their shield, leaving their faces
unprotected from an arc flash event. The Honeywell Salisbury PrismShield™
improves color recognition and general visibility compared to existing face
shields – you can clearly see the difference. As a Safety Manager you’re
already fully aware that workers need to correctly distinguish colors through
their arc flash face shield. PrismShield™ provides full color recognition,
making sure your workers can differentiate between similarly-colored objects at
all times. It also increases general visibility, especially when working
indoors in poorly-lit rooms. A reliable solution from Honeywell to improve your
workers’ color recognition and visibility – with all colors in sight and full
safety on site.
Additional
features and benefits include the following:
- Full color recognition eliminates previous difficulties in
distinguishing similarly-colored objects from each other
- Exclusive weight balancing frame increases comfort by
reducing neck strain for users
- Bronze tint provides increased general visibility
- Anti-scratch extends the life of the product
- Anti-fog allows usage for longer periods of time
- Meets ASTM F2178, ANSI Z87.1 and NFPA 70E standards
- Available with or without a hard hat in 10, 12 or 20 cal/cm2
ATPV ratings

Q&A |
|
|
|
|
Question - What is the difference between medical or
medical-grade disposable exam gloves and non-medical or industrial grade
disposable gloves?
Answer - Disposable gloves made of
natural latex, nitrile, vinyl, or other synthetic materials are classified
according to their quality level (AQL by statistical sampling for defects
found).
If the word "exam" or "examination" glove appears
in the product packaging to describe the gloves, they must meet the
requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for patient
examination gloves. The FDA minimum AQL is 2.5. Sampled shipments
with a higher level of defects are rejected and cannot be sold as medical or
medical-grade exam gloves. The FDA recommends that exam gloves also meet
applicable ASTM standard specifications which cover thickness, length, size,
and other attributes.
There are other regulatory requirements for medical
or medical-grade exam gloves as well including the filing of FDA pre-market
notification forms [510(k)], registration of the manufacturer or importer as an
FDA medical device establishment, random inspections of manufacturing
facilities, and random sampling of shipments of imported gloves.
Non-medical or industrial grade disposable gloves are generally manufactured as
medical gloves but were identified and segregated during post-production
testing as having a higher AQL meaning a higher level of defects. There
are no minimum AQL requirements for non-medical disposable gloves.
[ed.
note Ambi-Gard® brand exam gloves are manufactured, sampled, and
tested to a higher AQL than the FDA minimum and Ambi-Gard non-medical
disposable gloves are also sampled and tested to a specific AQL level to assure
consistent quality.]

As I See It |
|
|
|
It is August 2021, and it is back to school time around the
United States. School time is a time for learning, and a wise person told me
that we should never stop learning. So let’s see what we can learn together.
Our first lesson today focuses on hearing protection. Did you
know that noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is the most common permanent and
preventable occupational injury? Once incurred NIHL is irreversible – but it’s
also 100% preventable. Where are the needed earplugs? Hopefully in someone’s
ear and not on the floor.
Earplug dispensers can be mounted where the work is
(ask us about magnetic holders for earplug dispensers) and earplugs can be
dispensed touch-free. Talk about a hygienic! And, hopefully the earplugs are
not in someone’s food. Ask us about metal-detectable corded earplugs for the
food industry.
Our second lesson today deals with electrical safety. In the
United States, there are approximately 1000 deaths per year as a result of
electrical injuries. Of these, approximately 400 are due to high-voltage
electrical injuries, and lightning causes 50 to 300. That leaves at least 300
fatalities due to low-voltage hazards – the voltage that is in your facility
today.
There are also at least 30,000 shock incidents per year which are
non-fatal. A comprehensive electrical safety program includes lockout-tagout
(LOTO), an arc flash hazard assessment, and rubber insulating gloves (and
related products) to protect against electric shock at or above 50 volts AC.
In
another As I See It we’ll address electrical safety at DC voltages.
The summary of this month’s lessons is that (1) listen clearly
(2) don’t be shocked, and (3) remember that Saf-T-Gard International is the
resource you can count on - Bringing Workers Home Safely Since 1936.
Sincerely,
Richard A. Rivkin, Saf-T-Gard CEO and Chairman of the Board
